Q&A: Financial Aid?

February 29th, 2012

Question by Tara M: Financial Aid?
I applied for financial aid by the April 1st deadline or whenever it is. My school then sent me a letter saying they had received my application for financial aid. Also with the letter there was a list of documents I needed to send in to the school. Some of the documents being my w-2s and my mom’s. This will be my 2nd year at this school and I didn’t have to turn all of that in prior to my 1st year. Will I still get financial aid if I’m this late turning in all of that information?

Best answer:

Answer by Found-1
You won’t get any financial aid until you turn in everything they ask and they process the results of your documents. (This takes some time so don’t turn in your stuff two weeks before classes start and expect to have money the week school starts.)

You were selected for verification. This occurs to about 30% of the fafsa apps. Apparently you were not selected last year.

Question by nikkiv28: credit report?
I had a $ 13,824.00 loan for a car in 1997. It was paid on time every month, no late payment at all. It is still on my credit report, but it is saying that it was closed. Should it say paid, satisfied, or should it have remained open? I am trying to raise my score. I dont know to much about it. Thanks for your help.

Your credit report is really a credit history. Everything stays on for 7 to 10 years. Yours sounds OK. Just keep making payments on time and your score will slowly get better.

Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com

This is the government mandated site where you can get TOTALLY FREE credit report from the 3 credit agencies once per year. They will not even ask for your credit card number because it is really free.

Unlike sites such as freecreditreport.com which asks for your credit card and only give you “free credit report” if you sign up for their credit monitoring system

are you talking about a business CC using the business identification number? if so and you are just starting out your personal information will be used and if you have bad credit you will not get a loan. an accountant or not has nothing to do with it.

Question by Serendipity: financial aid?
I am applying for financial aid and it is asking me on the form for the school code and i am not sure wich school i want to go to yet because i am trying to do it all online. I haven’t decided yet. what can i do?

Best answer:

Answer by srs2teach
You can put several schools on there. And you can always go back later and take some off to add others. Go ahead and put the school codes of several schools you are considering. This way, the different schools will be able to send you a “financial aid package.” You can use this information to help you determine where to attend school. Some schools will be able to offer you more money then others.

Question by Ash1227: financial aid?
I started online school, because i have two kids one vehical and my husband has it all day to work. Anyway, if i were to have attended my community college it would have been paid for me because of my financial situation. i was granted financial aid through university of pheonix, but i have to pay it back, what is the difference?Maybe im just confused.

Best answer:

Answer by future marriage therapist
The difference is probably the type of financial aid that was offered. For Univ. of Pheonix you probably got a loan and not a grant or scholarship. Loans you do have to payback. But most grants and all scholarships you don’t have to payback. Also just an fyi, did you check to see if your community college offers classes around your husband’s schedule. Usually they have day, evening and night classes.
