Q&A: credit help?

April 18th, 2012

Question by lovesugarkisses: credit help?
a year ago when i was 17 i wrote bounce checks to walmart and it caused my bank and walmart about $ 2000 in total with the fees and everything. i never paid it off, they stoped sending me letters after a few months. i just got a gold card from a different bank and im trying to rebuild my credit.
Do i have to pay back walmart and the other bank? they send me no collection amounts. and can my credit be brought up from the gold card eventually?

I wouldn’t want to give you the wrong answer, but if I were you, I’d contact one of the free credit counselling services and ask them that question. They would probably know better, especially when it comes to credit law, etc.

Good Luck

Any tips for the Applied Bank secured credit card?

April 17th, 2012

Question by rad.danette: Any tips for the Applied Bank secured credit card?
I want a secured card because I just graduated college and just started working. I would like to start building some credit w/out paying outrageous fees.

Applied Bank sounds pretty good so far. I don’t mind paying a reasonable annual fee if I don’t have to pay a super high APR (you know, in case of an emergency of default or something for whatever reason).

I’m just wanting to know what I should watch out for!

Thanks!!! =)

Financial Aid?

Question by sjkdh: Financial Aid?
I am about to fill out a form (2008-2009 verification worksheet) I live with my boyfriend and our two kids. He pays for everything – i stay home with our kids. Should i just put 0′s where it asks for my income etc? I don’t receive child support and do not work. Will financial aid wonder how i support myself?

Answer by Found-1
Yes, they will. There is a question at the bottom of Worksheet B that says, “Any money paid on your behalf?” or something like that. You need to put something down. Does he pay your car payment, insurance, food etc. Figure out how much that is and list it.

Does any one know how I can get a credit card without a co-signeer

Answer by Fyre And Reign
If you have no credit history, it’s hard to get a Mastercard or Visa unless you have a really, really good income. However, it’s usally EASY to get a gasoline credit card like Texaco, Shell, etc.

Get a gasoline card, use it but pay the balance in full every month so they see you’re reliable, responsible, that you pay on time then you might qualify for a Visa or Mastercard.

Same thing with some store cards like Target, you get a store credit card and make your payments on time then they offer you a Target Visa. Good luck!

Can boss deny me the right to look at my tips that are left on my Credit Cards until the end of the work day?

Question by : Can boss deny me the right to look at my tips that are left on my Credit Cards until the end of the work day?
Though at the end of the day he just gives me a total amount. I do not get to actually see what I am being left, and how do i know the cashier, HIS DAUGHTER, isnt putting my tickets into her cashout for the day?

Best answer:

Answer by Phil
Yeah sounds like you’re being robbed. Taking your tips is stealing. I would make note of how much you get at the end of your shift. Have him sign it if you can, then have the police investigate it. Because chances are you aren’t the only one he’s stealing from.

Credit card?

Question by MuaNickJonasKissKiss: Credit card?
Can teens use their parents credit card if they have a note and a school ID?

Best answer:

Answer by Kristiin Knows
It depends on the place you use it at.
But legally no.

If you explain your situation basically its up to the cashier. If the person wants to be a jerk, they can say no.

If your parents want you to be able to use their card they need to call the credit card company and add you as an additional user. You will then receive your own card with your name on it.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Most places don’t check ID’s anyway.

Financial aid?

April 10th, 2012

Question by Heather N: Financial aid?
Does anyone know how being a guest student works? I am a junior in college but I switched majors a little late and I want to go to medical school so I need to take my Mcats soon. So, I need to take the science courses. I wanted to take them this summer, but I my school does not offer all of the ones I need over the summer. So, I would like to go to another school to take them. Will I be able to apply for financial aid although I am only a guest student at that school?

Best answer:

Answer by photogirl
No. You can only get financial aid from one institution because these are federally funded/backed instruments. You could try a private lender, but I’m still guessing the answer will be no – due to the federal tracking.

make sure you have only trusted toolbars and plugins. check your plugins and delete the ones you do not recognize (plugins or toolbars are not needed.

also make sure autofill is turned off.

also, i would use chrome (more wary of malicious software)
