Credit help?

January 22nd, 2012

Question by teaster: Credit help?
okay, I used to be in debt with some credit card companies, but all of them are paid and I’ve been debt free for about two years now. I’m trying to rebuild my credit, but no one will give me a credit card. I’m in no need for a house or new car, so I’m not goin those routes. I have student loans that I’m abou tot have to start paying back….will this help my credit? (I know that paying them back will, duh, and I intent to do so…but will just having a loan that I’m paying on look good?) Also, I attempted to get a credit card and was turned down for these reasons:
-DELINQUENCY ADVERSE PUBLIC RECORD OR COLLECTION
-LACK OF REVOLVING ACCOUNT INFORMATION
-TOO FEW ACCOUNTS CURRENTLY PAID AS AGREED

My credit report says that the delinquencies could be on my record for up to four more years…is there any way to speed that process up?? I mean, I realized I screwed up in the past, and while I’m not looking to purchase a new car or house now, I want to be able to eventually.

Time heals most bad credit on your report. It will stay on your credit report for about 8 years. If you paid it off in four, then you have four more to go. Pay off your student loans in four years and you’ll be in good shape.

Question by voodoo_moonbaby43968: Credit Help?
Ok, so I am 25 and have bad credit. What do you suggest I do to start rebuilding my credit. I’m not making excuses for my past actions, I was just stupid. I want to do whatever I can within my means to fix my mess. I don’t make much and I have a car payment, cell phone payment and car ins. payment I make every month. What are my options? Thanks everyone!
Ok, a few more details. I have some collections that I haven’t even thought about paying on until recently. Like I said, I was stupid. How do I go about taking care of my past debts before I get myself into new ones. Does anyone reccomend any of those debt consolidation or credit counseling services? If so, which ones?

Get a secured credit card. First Premiere is one. What it is, is a credit card that you put money on. For example, if you sign up for one, and put $ 250 on it, your credit limit is $ 250. Just use it for gas, and pay it off each time. That will build your credit up.

6 more years and it will be off your credit report. Unless they try to make you pay something on it. If you do make anymore payments on it, then that starts the 7 year cycle over again.

Q&A: How do I pay off my credit cards and loans if the credit company or the the credit cousenling won’t help?

November 17th, 2011

Question by chickiechick: How do I pay off my credit cards and loans if the credit company or the the credit cousenling won’t help?
I have a debt of close to twenty thousand dollars. This is one credit card and one loan. I owe close to 700 dollars a month for both of these (combined). I cannot pay it and live. They are both through the same bank, but the bank will not help me. They gave me a number to a credit counseling service but it won’t help me either. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to use a credit settlement service because it supposedly ruins my credit, but it seems to me that my credit is ruined anyway. I need HELP!

Get a debt consolidation loan from Countrywide. As long as you have home ownership, you’re approved.

I am a grad student and I work. I am having to pay my tuition out of pocket. There have been some surprise expenses(new tires, increased tuition ect) lately and I applied for a small loan through my credit union and was turned down for 3 late payments on my vehicle.
