Question by Shannon H: Credit Report?
What is a closed account on a credit report? I just checked my report and one of account’s on there say’s Closed? Does it still need to be paid?
Account Status is Closed but it’s been placed for collections?
I want to clean up my credit, but i have no clue what this stuff means with closed and all of that???

Best answer:

Answer by Beverly S
Closed are accounts that either you, or the creditor have closed. If there is a balance showing then you need to call the creditor & ask for status- they closed it so you wouldn’t keep charging it up. I’m sure they would be happy to work a payment arrangement for you.

Question by Movers&shakers: Credit Report ?
Is there any disadvantage of checking your credit report ?

Will this info be visible to banks that you requested your credit report ?

Best answer:

Answer by Stephanie C
Checking your credit is what’s called a “soft credit pull” – it doesn’t affect your score. It’s the same as when companies check your score to see if they should mail you a credit card offer. It does not count against you to check your own credit report.

Get a debt consolidation loan and then you can pay off your debts and just make one big payment on the consolidation loan. And make the payments on time. That will fix your credit.

Question by nikkiv28: credit report?
I had a $ 13,824.00 loan for a car in 1997. It was paid on time every month, no late payment at all. It is still on my credit report, but it is saying that it was closed. Should it say paid, satisfied, or should it have remained open? I am trying to raise my score. I dont know to much about it. Thanks for your help.

Your credit report is really a credit history. Everything stays on for 7 to 10 years. Yours sounds OK. Just keep making payments on time and your score will slowly get better.

Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com

This is the government mandated site where you can get TOTALLY FREE credit report from the 3 credit agencies once per year. They will not even ask for your credit card number because it is really free.

Unlike sites such as freecreditreport.com which asks for your credit card and only give you “free credit report” if you sign up for their credit monitoring system

You can often go to the agencies website and buy the report directly from their. Remember to hit all three major agencies. And, if you have been turned down for credit due to your report, they have to give it to you for free.

I was sued by one of the credit and collection agency. I decided to fight it and agency put the request for dismissal,. What should be my next step, how do I get it off my credit report.

Best answer:

Answer by BesiktasBob
When you get a report, ensure that it’s not on the report but it can take up to three months. If you have a copy of the dismissal, ensure that you send a copy to the three major credit reporting agencies.

Question by ▐▀▀✿▀▀▌ LIL BEAR ▐▄▄✿▄▄▌: Credit Report?
Is it true that your credit report gets a bad mark every time you check your credit score? If so, why is that? Shouldn’t you be commended for actually caring about your score as opposed to people who don’t care and ruin theirs?

Best answer:

Answer by thepennymine
Every time you look at your credit score, you are going through a credit agency. It cannot recognize that it is you yourself looking at your score, all it can tell is it’s someone looking at your credit.

Thus, to credit agencies, it looks like you’re applying for a credit card or some other form of credit, which is what causes your credit to go down for the short term.

You don’t really need to look at your credit more than once per year anyways.
